The Cancer Hospital and Research centre by the CARE foundation is located near the National Institute of Technology, at Chathamangalam, Kozhikode. 15.5 acres of strategically located land has been acquired for the purpose. The Chathamangalam grama panchayath has offered to provide its wholehearted support by widening the road and supplying water from the nearby Chaliyar river. The hospital is located 22 km from the Calicut City.
The fully fledged hospital will have the latest research and learning facilities. It will be able to boast of the most modern equipments and amenities for the care of cancer. Architects have been shortlisted for constructing the hospital which is expected to start functioning with 200 beds. The hospital would be constructed in a phased manner and would become fully operational by 1st January 2017.
The project is envisaged to be a landmark in the healthcare of the region, especially in Kozhikkode, Malappuram and Wayanad districts. In addition from support by the Panchayath, the district and Government authorities have extended support in all possible ways.
Seagull consultancy, Mumbai is preparing the detailed project report for the project. A reputed architectural firm will be entrusted the design of the hospital complex. Facilities for the early detection and subsequent treatment of cancer will be made available by the beginning of 2017.
